I will post a separate English language non-graphic version of this news story in a separate post so if you don’t want to see graphic images or dead bodies, then go back and stop reading now. Keep in mind that unlike American newspapers, these images are all too common in Yemen. While our media share photos of building destruction or sobbing families in situations where deaths are reported… not the same here. It’s BOOM IN YOUR FACE.
I had seen the English headlines about this story first, which are reporting 17 dead, so I went to the website for the newspaper in Sana’a to see their report.
This is at the very tippy-top of their homepage:
Uhhhh, yeah…. The report is in Arabic, but basically it’s saying that 22 civilians were killed and 8 others injured in a Saudi aggression airstrike on a market in Hodeidah governorate. That number is expected to rise due to the severity of injuries and paramedics being unable to get to the wounded.
The following is a screenshot of page #2 of the printed version of the newspaper. I do not want to post the screenshot of the front page as those images are more horrifying, though I will include the link. It is interesting that they jump all in with the worst images on the front page. Talk about an attention-getter!
They are calling this Saudi-led aggression a massacre and they are having trouble identifying some of the bodies.
