From UN News:

“An entire generation of children in Yemen faces a bleak future because of limited or no access to education,” said Meritxell Relaño, UNICEF Representative in Yemen. “Even those who remain in school are not getting the quality education they need.”

It is estimated now that 2 million children are out of school, three quarters of public school teachers haven’t been paid their salaries in over a year, 2500 schools cannot be used, two thirds of schools have been damaged by attacks, and 7% are being used by the military or displaced people.

Many parents are worried for their children’s safety going to school so they keep them home. More families are also turning to early marriage or child recruitment for fighting.

If Not In School is a 7 page pdf report from UNICEF.
